A new way to baby shower that is

With families living so far apart these days, it often makes it hard to celebrate special occasions together.  Our family is welcoming a new little one in July and my Mother-in-Law was determined that she could figure out a way to shower her son and daughter-in-law, who live in California, with some love before their first child arrives.

One day while driving we jokingly said we could have a Skype Shower.  Once we thought about it some more it seemed like the perfect idea and kind of fun too- I mean why not have a Skype Baby Shower?

The couple can sit comfortably in their own home, and we still get to see their reaction and share the joy with them.  It’s true we will have to virtual hug, ok well at least there will be hugs!

So here is how it is going to work…. We are going to send real baby shower invitations (getting a beautiful invitation in the mail is just too wonderful to pass up).  I love the quality of Tiny Prints and am leaning towards this invitation at the moment ….

I like the idea of acknowledging that it is both Stephen and Gian’s baby girl that is on it’s way.

Location: The location is going to be at a local restaurant that has wireless internet.  We hope to project their image up on a screen or wall.  There will be food and drinks for all the local relatives and friends that attend.

Gifts:  Gifts will be sent directly to the couples home in California. Stephen and Gian will open the gifts and we will all do our oooh’s and awe’s and happy cheers so they can hear us
