What time is it? It’s Potty Time

This blog post is more a call out for help or maybe a little encouragement that this too shall pass.

Potty training is hard and we have just started.  It is not coming naturally, like I SO hoped it would.  I thought if we waited until we were just about three it would be so much easier and just happen.  Well I was mistaken.

Now let me re-tell (myself) that we have only just started.  I guess I never thought of this as a process.. I thought of it as – when it’s time we will do it and it will be done.  Day care tried a few months ago and gave up claiming “your son does not give into peer pressure.” To which I replied, well I guess that’s a good thing for life- maybe not potty training though.

Well things are getting mighty messy around here.  The wood floors, the couch, even the stairs they are all targets of the “potty training.”  I have a 12 year old dog that we crate during the day due to accidents and now I have an almost three year old who is also having accidents.  OH and the dog, yep he decided to have an accident last night, to fit in or maybe to re-mark his territory.

This is a short post on a subject I am sure I will be writing and pondering a lot more about on this blog.  For right now I am reaching out into the bloggy blog world to find a little bit of love for a mom and dad who are just starting this potty “process”.

What has worked for you?  Any words of advice?

My baby isn’t old enough for potty training yet… and she is a girl. However, I was told having cheerios to aim at or little targets… (they have some flushable paper ones now) will help train boys. There is also a watch that plays music (any song you download – kids fav song is best) every 15 minutes to 2 hours… (you can set it to go off whenever) and this is supposed to help with training. You take them to the potty to try to go whenever it goes off. It worked on my niece. :) Hope this helps you some!

I posted this on my fb for more parents to give advice… Im REALLY not an expert in this. And I’m sure you heard of target practice before. But the watch thing is new. :)
