I was fortunate enough to receive glasses from Firmoo a global optical store that sells glasses on-line to review. I went through the whole process of picking out the glasses that I wanted, to placing the order, and of course receiving my order in the mail. Let me give you my highlights and a few glitches that happened along the way…then you’ll be rewarded with a big pimpin” picture of me in my glasses that is sure to make you laugh.
Ordering glasses on-line is still a new concept to me. I remember the first time I went to the eye doctor and then had to get glasses, I was in high school and was pretty nervous that I would now be the girl with the glasses. I was only allowed to pick out a pair of glasses from the cheap rack, so my first pair of glasses were a gold pair with nose guards. I wore them as little as possible. Now a days glasses are definitely an accessory- they can be fun, funky, alternative, serious, or dare I say even flirty? Ordering on-line from Firmoo is pretty fun because those cute glasses you want also happen to be on the “cheap rack” so you can order one or multiple pairs of glasses.
I picked out a pair of fun prescription sunglasses and placed my order. I had to scan my prescription and send it in by e-mail. Luckily I knew were it was and it was up to date. I thought I was all set, but then I received an e-mail from Firmoo letting me know that my prescription did not include my PD (pupil distance)…huh? After some confusion the staff at Firmoo send me a chart that showed me how I could measure my own PD. I ended up eventually getting it right- but this took some time! If you plan to order glasses on-line and you are going to your eye doctor appointment I suggest you ask them to include this on the prescription..to save you some time and to get an accurate reading for your future orders… I think mine is a little off.
The glasses arrived by international post … I was not expecting this so when I received a notice from the post office I did not pay much attention to it..oops! Luckily the staff at Firmoo e-mailed me to let me know that they had notice that the glasses were being held at the post office. The staff e-mailed me a few times reminding me to go pick-em up, and I kept having competing priorities and putting it off. The last e-mail from Firmoo let me know I better go get em”- it said in plain English your glasses will be sent back to us if you do not go get them! So I went and got em”. I LOVE THEM!
They are so hip and I love having prescription sunglasses again. It is so great to be able to see when I am out and about. I wore them at a baseball game yesterday and I was able to watch the whole game. I usually have to decide glasses or non-prescription sunglasses.
I would recommend checking out Firmoo, but make sure you have your prescription and PD (pupil distance) and make sure you check your mail box for any missed mail deliveries.
